Worley Parsons Corporate Offices

A powerful statement of rawness and minimalisim

Worley Parsons Office Fit-out Project (2009) AM60, 42 Albert St, Brisbane

Designed to dominate this inner space, a stringer of uncoloured steel captures all attention within the confines of Worley Parson’s reception. Appearing as a single steel blade, the stringer contrasts all surrounding surfaces including the apparently unsupported treads cut between it and the adjacent feature wall. Upstairs, the steel blades continue as the basis of the cantilevered glass extensions forming the balustrade to one side of the stairwell. Uniting the two distinct upstairs balustrades, a single white translucent structural glass panel, rising directly from the floor, acts as the divider between office proper and the staircase.

Stringer Construction: Commercial grade mild steel truss staircase frames, sheeted with pre-finished and treated 3mm sheet metal lining (T2), Hidden in-wall plate stringer and associated pre-sheet wall framing.

Treads: Pre-finished select grade Blackbutt manufactured treads encasing the steel tread plates with rebated 50mm Latham ACS-50 “Sparkling Black” non-slip nosing strips>

Balustrade: Pre-finished and treated 3mm sheet metal lining, 12mm clear toughened glass cantilevered panels in grouted glazing channels to wall tops (F0).

Other Elements: 21.52mm toughened laminated structural glass divider
