With a landmark project involving five double rise feature staircases over 15 storeys and a tight timeframe for the nation’s telecommunication giant, Bovis Lend Lease needed professional staircase specialists, so we were invited to the table. Our aim was simple, maintain budgets whilst retaining design intent. To achieve this, the original plans required subtle redesign and extensive re-engineering. The result was a spectacular success with on time delivery and a high quality finished product. The stairs are an imposing design drawing on the natural beauty of timber and the extensive use of angles. Discreet lighting is comforting and gently bathes the stairs with its warmth

Stringer Construction: Commercial grade mild steel truss staircase frames, sheeting with structural plywood and pre-finished recycled timber shiplap T&Gcladding (T2)

Treads: Pre-finished Recycled cream coloured hardwood tread/riser assemblies with rebated 75mm Latham 765S “Sparkling Black” non-slip nosing strips

Balustrade: Pre-finished recycled cream coloured hardwood nom80x12mm shiplap lining, and Internally-lit continuous stainless steel 50.8mm CHS handrails.

Other Elements: Stainless steel cladding to smoke curtain columns, Stainless steel smoke curtain ledge, LED’s to handrail, stainless steel rigging for smoke curtain retainer.
