QIC Corporate Offices
A structure of contradiction and personality
QIC Office Refurbishment Project (2009) Central Plaza 2, 66 Eagle St, Brisbane.
Hovering within an envelope of stainless steel and glass, a structure defying logic gracefully ascends through the QIC headquarters. Involving three fully unsupported cantilevered staircases linking four levels, the project included the extensive structural steel reinforcing required to support this amazing sculpture. The stark glass and stainless steel of the main structure adds relief to the abundant timber of the fit-out. Upholstery landing soffits and large curved corners to the glazing are the final softening touches to this artistic wonder.
